Jakarta, Indonesia (AHN) – Indonesia’s protection ministry announced Wednesday it has finalized a contract with South Korean shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding Marine Engineering (DSME) to build 3 submarines for the Indonesian navy.
The ministry’s Defense Facilities Agency chief, Maj. Gen. Ediwan Prabowo, plus DSME president plus CEO Nam Tae-sang finalized the contract inside Jakarta with South Korean ambassador Kim Young-sun, South Korean protection attaché Col. Cheol Moo-dae plus officials within the Indonesian Defense Ministry, Indonesian Military plus Navy headquarters because witnesses, based on the ministry.
Under the contract, value a total $ 1.1 billion, DSME usually build 2 submarines together with Indonesia’s state-owned shipbuilder PT PAL. The 3rd submarine is integrated PT PAL’s yard inside Surabaya.
Every submarine is 210 feet lengthy, weigh 1,400 tons plus driven by diesel machines. It may accommodate 40 sailors plus is fitted with 8 tubes for launching torpedoes plus missiles.
The submarines are scheduled to be completed plus delivered inside 2018.
DSME claimed the submarine contract inside a bidding which concerned French, German plus Russian rivals.
